Ruth Marie Pope

Ruth Marie Pope, 88, passed away on February 10, 2025, in Tracy, Iowa. A memorial
funeral service will be planned for a later date.
Ruth was born on December 24, 1936, to Harold and Mabel (Oliver) Richardson. She
worked for Knoxville VA in dietetics, retiring after many years of faithful service. Ruth
was a kind and giving woman. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great
grandmother, sister, aunt, and a faithful friend to so many who had the pleasure of
knowing her. Ruth’s love of writing led her to become pen pals with different people
throughout her life. When one of her pen pals passed away, that person’s son picked up
his pen and took their place, faithfully exchanging correspondence with Ruth. She will
be greatly missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Ruth is survived by her son, Donivan (Ronda) Pope; sister, Doris Thomas;
granddaughters, Amanda Pope and Jennifer (Joe) Caraway; great grandchildren,
Daniel Simms, Aschlynn Simms, Dylan Simms, Alex Caraway, and Nick Caraway;
longtime friend, Wade Feldman; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Pope Sr., siblings: Donna
Spoon, Wayne Richardson, Linda Verwoert, baby brother, Donald Richardson; and a
grandson, Donivan Pope III.

Harvey, Iowa.
