School Board offered $5K for stadium

by Steve Woodhouse

The Knoxville School Board passed a resolution Monday night to move forward with the
sale of Ken Locke Stadium and the surrounding block to the Knoxville Alumni
Association for $5,000.
The Alumni were the only entity to make an offer. A public hearing is still required for the
transfer of any real property from a school district to another entity. The district is
allowed to do this, based upon Iowa Code 297.15.
The public hearing is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 14 at 5:30 p.m., the date of the next
regular board meeting.
A special meeting, which includes a closed session, was scheduled for Wednesday,
Sept. 25, after our print deadline. Check www.marioncountyexpress.net for updates.
