Lois Diane was born on June 13, 1952, in Ottumwa, Iowa to Walter and Mary Guffey.
Growing up, Diane worked many hours on the farm, which is where her love of animals
came from. She was close to her brother growing up, and stayed close their whole lives.
Family was very important to her.
After graduating from Albia High School in 1970, Diane went on to continue her
education at Indian Hills to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) which she was
very proud of herself for completing in 1990. That same year, she started her job at
Lucas County Health Center where she spent many years. In the span of 23 years,
Diane was a nurse’s aide, med-aide and LPN. Noticeably, Diane enjoyed taking care
and being around others.
Diane met the love of her life, David (Fitch) Tickle on a blind date that her friend had set
up. In 1991, they ended up getting married at the First Christian Church in Albia, Iowa.
Dave was Dianes other half and considered him her “teddy bear”. Together, they made
a wonderful life, until Dave sadly passed in 2023.
Diane will be remembered for her warm and loving personality. Everyone knew they
were welcome at Diane’s home and she was very generous to everyone. She was
always loving towards her family, especially her granddaughters. One of Diane’s favorite
memories with her granddaughters was when she couldn’t find her sunglasses and little
did she know, they were on her head. Laughing and smiling were things she loved and
remembered most about her granddaughters.
Besides always being around people and wanting to help them, a few hobbies Diane
enjoyed were gardening, quilting, being outdoors, doing crafts and of course spending
time with family. Any animal she had, big or small, always had a name which also made
them a part of her family.
Diane is preceded in death by her parents, Walt and Mary Guffey and her husband,
David “Fitch” Tickle.
She will be missed by her daughters, Kimberly Wright and Brandi Tickle; grandkids;
Samantha Wright, Bree-Ana O’Leary and ShaKayla Uleing; her brother, Kenny Guffey
and many friends.
