Virginia Pearl Buban (Hixenbaugh)

Virginia Pearl Buban (Hixenbaugh), age 91, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away Friday,
November 14, 2025, at West Ridge Specialty Care in Knoxville. Virginia’s wishes were
to be cremated and a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date and to be laid to rest
at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville, Iowa.
Memorials may be made to Hospice at Westridge Nursing Home.
Virginia was born on May 3, 1953, in Plano, Iowa to Delmar and Mary (Johnson)
Hixenbaugh. Virginia was a 1952 graduate of Centerville, Iowa.
After high school Virginia met Johnny Buban and was happily married on May 31, 1952,
in Moravia, Iowa. To this blessed union two children were born Dana and Greg. Virginia
and Johnny were married a blessed 69 years.
She enjoyed watching the school kids grow up in the Knoxville Community School
District where she worked for 37 years as a secretary. Virginia was happy to be cooking
and spending time with her family. She also could be found doing crosswords and
reading books in her spare time.
Virginia is survived by her daughter Dana (Dale) Noon and son Greg (Sue) Buban,
sisters Beverly Watson and Barb Lewis, brothers Don (Mary Kay) Hixenbaugh and Ron
(Leea) Hixenbaugh. Four grandchildren Scott Noon, Kylie Moore, Austin Buban, and
Shannon Buban and four great grandchildren.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Buban, her parents Delmar and
Mary (Johnson) Hixenbaugh, and a sister Vivian Shepard.
