Cassy Lester

Services for Cassy Lester, 47, of Knoxville, will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at
3:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Knoxville. A visitation will be held prior
to the service starting at 2:00 p.m. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
To honor Cassy's personal request, the family requests no flowers. Memorials may be
made to the family in care of Kelly Binns.
Cassy Binns was born on November 5, 1978, in Knoxville, Iowa, to Daniel William Binns
and Sonjie “Chris” Christine (Johnson) Binns. Growing up, Cassy was deeply rooted in
the community that shaped her, graduating from Knoxville High School with the Class of
1996. She primarily worked in the food service industry, where her hardworking and
outgoing personality left a lasting impression on those she met.
On April 6, 2015, Cassy married the love of her life, Chad Lester. Chad sadly passed
away in 2017.
Cassy was a woman who lived boldly and loved fiercely, she had a personality that
could fill a room being loud, bold, electric, and unapologetically herself. Known as both
a fighter and a warrior, she went through life with a wild, untamed energy that made her
unforgettable. Not even hand cuffs in a courtroom could tame her!
Those closest to Cassy knew her as someone who never backed down. She faced life’s
challenges head-on and when she succeeded, she did so fully, giving her whole heart
and proving just how strong she truly was. Her journey was one of growth, resilience,
and determination, and she was incredibly proud of how far she had come, especially
after being one whole year clean.
Above all, Cassy loved her family. Her greatest pride and the center of her world were
her children. There wasn’t much that Cassy wouldn’t sacrifice for her children. She
loved to give with every bit of herself and always cared so deeply about others and their
well-being.
Cassy’s life was filled with a lot of loving humor. She loved her two cats, Itty and Nona.
On March 20, 2026, Cassy sadly joined her husband, Chad Lester; her grandparents:
Gayle Binns, Theodore & Betty Johnson, her brother-in-law, Corey Lester and her
friend, Guy Weldon.
Cassy will be deeply missed by her children: Samantha “Sissy” Murphy, David Allen
Weldon and Danielle “Hoot” Binns; parents, Daniel (Kelly) Binns and Sonjie Binns;
grandmother, Carole Binns; mother-in-law, Kathy Woolsey; sister-in-law, Pamela Wright-
Lester; grandchildren: Neavah Keeney, Noah Cooper, Mabel Mae Reed, with one more
on the way; siblings: Tommy Farmer, Jeffrey (Cindy) Binns, Matt (Addie) Binns, Abigal
Sutherland, Adam (Michelle) Binns, Curtis (Jonna) Null and Ashlee (Austin) Jennings;
along with many nieces and nephews.
