Knoxville Preservation Foundation offers class this weekend

by Press Release

The Knoxville Preservation Foundation is offering their first hands-on class: Wood floor repair and passive refinishing! Please read this full description, if you're considering participating
If, like us, your original hardwood floors are too thin to be sanded again,
OR
you don't want the dusty mess that comes with traditional refinishing,
OR
you don't have an extra few thousand dollars lying around...
...have we got the class for you!
Come learn (and practice!) on our wood floors before taking your new skills home!  Together, we'll learn how to get rid of holes or stubborn stains, remove old finish, and reapply new finish to help extend the life of your old home's wood flooring.
To be clear: this course isn't necessarily for those hoping to make their wood flooring look brand new again. This method retains a lot of the old floor's character while correcting past mistakes and reviving the finish.
This is a hands-on course, so participants **must** be able to:
- climb and descend stairs;
- sit, squat, kneel, and get up and down from the floor;
- lift, pull, pry, and scrub;
- listen, learn, and work with a positive, collaborative outlook!
Due to physical/space constraints, we can't accommodate observers, this is ONLY for hands-on participants. Attendees should wear clothes they don't mind getting dirty.
Classes begin Saturday and Sunday morning (April 18th and 19th) at 8am, and we'll work until 4pm or we're finished with the day's tasks, whichever comes first.
Hand tools, gloves, and masks will be provided, as will snacks and water during the event. If you have knee pads, bring them; if not, we have several pairs to share on a first-come, first-served basis.
Finally - and importantly - so we know what to plan for: please RSVP to the Event page on the Preservation Foundation's Facebook page OR directly via email at dylan.morse@hotmail.com. There aren't a lot of tools involved in this process, but I want to make sure we have enough to keep everyone involved.
