Cooling Centers to open

The City of Knoxville will open two cooling centers at the Knoxville Public Library and Knoxville Rec Center from June 28 at 1 p.m., to July 30, 2026, offering public access during their normal operating hours to provide relief from excessive heat.  If the extreme heat watch is extended, then the cooling center operations will be extended.  

Knoxville Rec Center

Saturday- 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
Sunday- 1 p.m.-5 p.m. 
Monday-Friday 5 a.m.-9 p.m.

Knoxville Public Library 
213 E Montgomery 
Saturday- 10 a.m.-3 p.m. 
Sunday- Closed
Monday-Thursday-10 a.m.-8 p.m.
Friday-10 a.m.-5 p.m.
