July 15, 2026
A celebration of life for David Harlan Mason, 66, of Pleasantville, will be held Thursday,
July 16, 2026, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. with a short service being held at 6:00 p.m. at
the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Knoxville. Memorials may be made to his family in
care of Hillary Mason.
David Harlan Mason was born on July 2, 1960, to Daniel Dean and Betty Dorene
Mason. He grew up in Pleasantville, Iowa, where he made many lifelong friends and
graduated from Pleasantville High School with the Class of 1978.
David spent 42 years working at Pella Corporation, where he was known for his strong
work ethic and dedication. He retired in 2021, leaving behind a career he was proud of.
In 1984, David married Diana Six, he welcomed her son, Jed and together they were
blessed with daughter, Hillary. Diana passed away in 2007. Later, David married Lana
Rose. Through their marriage, he was blessed with children: Shawntae, Tanya, Kayla,
and Travis.
More than anything, David loved being with his family. Holidays, birthdays, cookouts,
and simple evenings together meant the world to him. He never missed an opportunity
to cheer on his grandchildren at their activities and loved spending time with them,
whether it was building Lego creations, sharing laughs, or just being together.
David had a personality that people won't soon forget. He had a great sense of humor, a
mischievous streak, and was always ready to tease someone. Family members knew to
keep an eye on the puzzle table because David had a habit of hiding one piece away
just so he could be the one to put in the very last piece. It was all in good fun, and it
always brought plenty of laughs.
He enjoyed NASCAR racing, first cheering for Richard Petty and later for Dale
Earnhardt. In his younger years, he played slow-pitch softball and was also a talented
artist who enjoyed drawing. He loved fireworks and was known by those closest to him
as being just a little bit of a pyro whenever the Fourth of July rolled around.
David passed away suddenly at home on July 9, 2026. Those left to cherish David's
memory include his children: Hillary Mason, Shawntae Servis, Tanya Adkins, Kayla
(Andrew) Stamp, Travis (Tiffany) Drury, and Jed Light; his grandchildren: Dylan, Carter,
Nolan, Haylee, London, Zoey, Andrew, Logan, Jake, Mario, Gianna, Dexter, Lydia, and
Violet; great grandchildren: Waylon, Ophelia, and Aurora; his sister, Lori (Jay Welsh)
Mason; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends
whose lives were made brighter by his humor and love.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Betty Mason; his wives: Diana
Mason and Lana Mason; his brother, Dee Mason; and his sister, Julie (Eric) Weidner.
David will be remembered for the laughter he brought to every gathering, the love he
had for his family, and the countless memories he helped create. His quick wit, playful
spirit, and unwavering presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
