Sandra Maxwell, 67, of Knoxville, passed away at her home on Saturday, August 29,
2026. No formal services are planned at this time. Condolences may be left at

Pierschbacher Funeral Home, 309 W. Main St., Knoxville, Iowa 50138.
Sandra Jean Maxwell was born June 5, 1959, in Denver, Colorado, to Bob and Phyllis
Maxwell. Growing up in a military family alongside her brother, Randall, meant moving
often and experiencing many different places. Rather than shy away from the changes,
Sandra learned to embrace them. From an early age, she was always ready for a new
adventure, a quality that stayed with her throughout her life.
Sandra worked as an accountant, but outside of work she was rarely content to simply
sit still. She had an adventurous spirit and was always willing to try something new.
Over the years, her adventures included skydiving, snorkeling, riding Harleys, and being
involved in racing. Sandra enjoyed the excitement of life and was always curious about
what experience might be waiting around the next corner.
As adventurous as Sandra could be, she also had an incredibly kind and generous
heart. She was caring by nature and willing to help others whenever she could. Her
family was especially important to her, and there was nothing she treasured more than
being a grandmother. Her grandchildren, Jared, Alexandra, and Janessa, held a very
special place in her heart.
Sandra eventually made her way back to Knoxville to be closer to her son, Josh, his
wife, Amy, and her grandchildren. After a lifetime filled with different places and plenty of
adventures, being near the people she loved most became an important part of this
chapter of her life.
Sandra is survived by her son, Josh Sutton and his wife, Amy; grandchildren, Jared,
Alexandra, and Janessa; mother, Phyllis Carroll; brother, Randall Maxwell; along with
other relatives and friends who will remember her generous heart, caring nature, and
adventurous spirit.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bob Maxwell.
