Bonnie Lou Showers, of Melcher-Dallas, Iowa, passed away on August 27, 2026, at the
age of 75. A celebration of life gathering will be held Wednesday, September 2nd , from
4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. Memorials
may be made in care of Bonnie’s family and will be designated at a later date.
She was born on August 18, 1951, in Leon, Iowa, to Richard & Betty (Barton) Wilson.
She grew up in southern Iowa, near Marysville, Lamoni, and Leon. She graduated from
Leon High School in 1969 and attended beauty school after graduation. Bonnie married
Dave Showers on April 18, 1970, they shared 56 years together.
Bonnie was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She loved her family deeply and was always there for her children whenever they
needed her. Keeping family traditions alive was especially important to Bonnie. As her
family continued to grow, bringing everyone together became more difficult, but the love
and importance she placed on family remained constant.
Throughout her life, Bonnie worked at several local businesses and organizations,
including Souths Market, Casey’s, and Pleasantville Schools. She also generously gave
her time by volunteering with several church programs and was a member of the New
Hope United Methodist Church.
Bonnie is survived by her children: Chris Showers and wife, Lisa; Rebecca and
husband, Taha McCree; Stacey Mann and husband, Jeremy; Matt Showers; and Amber
Showers; her grandchildren, Zach, Alexis, Michaela, Bailee, Shelby, Brooklynn,
Savanna, Hunter, Gracie, Owen, Daisee, Chesnee, and Taylnn; and her great-
grandchildren: Haidyn, Raelyn, Ellie, Dayln, Kendall, and one more expected soon. She
is also survived by her brother, Dennis Wilson and his wife, Glenda; her sisters-in-law,
Sue South and Janie & Mike Merboth; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended
family members, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Showers in January of 2026; her
parents, Richard Wilson and Betty Webster; and her brothers, Steve Wilson and Kenny
Wilson.
Bonnie will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her willingness to help others,
and the traditions and cherished memories she leaves behind. She will be deeply
missed by all who knew and loved her.
