Scholte Strings Fall Concert to be Held at Central College
Central College invites the community to campus for the Scholte Strings fall orchestra concert.
The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, in Douwstra Auditorium inside Central Hall. The group is under the direction of Kris Van Vark DeWild, adjunct music instructor and 1990 graduate.
Previously known as the Central College Community Orchestra, this intergenerational ensemble of talented string players includes Central students and members of the community.
The program will feature Steven Kennedy, adjunct music faculty and professional classical guitarist, on Antonio Vivaldi's "Concerto in C Major," and senior violinist Cheyne Plants Turner, Class of 2027, playing A. Douglas Biggs' "Aria." Other selections include two pieces by English composer John Ireland, a lively dance from Gian Carlo Menotti's "Amahl and the Night Visitors" and the Irish "Suite for Strings" by Joan Trimble.
The concert is made possible with a generous grant from the Marion County Foundation and support from Central. Admission is free and all are welcome.
A healthy Marion County requires great community news.
